Last week we were given a task to create three or more images/paintings blah blah, of something to do with our artist that we're researching. I decided to do mine on Joshua Petker even though hes not one of my artists because last year I did one of my paintings on him and I liked it. We had to take an idea from their work and use it to create something of our own. Its due today and I have only done two. To go with these artworks we had to do a speech to explain what we did and why we did it...

So today I have to reply to both of my Gary Macmillan's, this mix up has been much more interesting than I ever would have thought.
The Gary from Canada has turned out to be really knowledgable in his artwork.
He studied science for a year but it turns out that art was his true callling. Although I still don't fully understand the beauty in his work I am now starting to understand the story behind them. Just goes to show that you should never judge a book by its cover (:
Also, my Gary from Auckland has turned out to know a bit aswell, I think I'm having the time of my life hahahaa.
Aaaaaaaaaaand, next friday I have an IN THE FLESH interview with the one and only DAVID CREIGHTON-PESTER!!!!!!!!! so exciting!
I'm terrified that I'll get too nervous and freeze up :/ that always seems to happen but if I prepare enough I'm sure it'll be fine... I hope...

Well surprise surprise!! The wrong Gary M e-mailed me back, turns out he'd love to help out a lowly student of Fraser high school. Looks like I just made the perfect mistake. Hopefully i find some better questions though because the ones I have at the moment aren't exactly spine tingling... more in depth would be nice... guess i should start dreaming up a storm.
So this morning I replied back to the right Gary McMillan telling him i was totally keen to interview him. exciting stuff. And then i spent the rest of my morning trying to find the words to tell the wrong Gary McMillan that it was an accident that I got in contact with him. But while writing the e-mail I was told that I should interview him to see where the story may lead, because lets face it, two is always better than one! So I then re-did my whole e-mail to the wrong Gary McMillan telling him that he was infact the wrong Gary McMillan but I was still interested in talking to him. Fingers crossed he's not offended and he's still keen!! :D

Well the funniest Thing happened today.....
It all started when our teacher Mr Cunnane told us that we need to find two artists that interested us and interview them. Fair enough, not so hard, I had been to an art exhibition that weekend and a particular piece had caught my eye so naturally I decided that I wanted to interview him. Being the small world that it is, it turned out that Mr Cunnane knew him from art school a few years ago, so he helped me get in contact with him via Facebook and I decided for good measure find his e-mail address and message him telling him more about what I wanted. To my joy he replied that night, I jumped around my house screaming and laughing. I was STOKED. So i went to school the next day telling everyone about my contact with him and decided to do some more research on him so i didn't look stupid infront of him. I came across many sites for people with the same name as my artist and would you believe it, there were TWO artists with his name.... Guess which artist I e-mailed. Yuhp thats right, I e-mailed the wrong artist.
now Im the laughing stock of the class and I still don't have an artist to interview... life is pretty much fabulous right now hahahahaa :)
